Netflix Surpasses 1 Million Subscribers
(March 7, 2003) Los Gatos, CA -- Online movie rental service Netflix announced last month it has over one million subscribers, nearly doubling its subscriber base each year since shifting to a subscription model in 1999.
Netflix maintains a DVD library of more than 13,500 titles, with more than 50 percent of members receiving requested titles the next day via the company's free delivery service.
Netflix currently operates 16 shipping centers, adding new facilities in the greater Newark, NJ, Philadelphia and Phoenix areas last month. With still more shipping centers planned, the company expects to increase the number of members reached with its "generally next-day service" to 70 percent by the end of the year.
